Hallormsstaðaskógur, the largest national forest in Iceland. This is near the southern end of it. Just by river Klifá. I didn't originally know that this species of lupine was alien to Iceland but spread ferociously after it was introduced; it's now almost an expected sight in these areas.
I stopped here while driving to Snæfell as it was almost the ending time of the midday dhuhr (ظهر) prayer and I didn't want to miss it. Praising God while being in the midst of some of his most magnificent creation enriches one's worship; basically the concept called khushu (خشوع). I'm very glad I was able to stop here. This area is gorgeous. Living in Canada, forests are not new to me and so I hadn't put this place on my itinerary, but being there almost made me regret. This is a vast forest with good hikes.
